Description

One framed photograph of USS Ashland LSD-01 with campaign ribbons. The frame is wooden and smooth with its natural color, and the back of the frame has felt over it as well as a wire attached for hanging the frame. The border around the picture is unatttached to the picture, is white with a blue line squaring of the picture, and it has notes at the bottom. Those notes say from left to right "Puerto Rico Planes Downed 1 Greenland Labrador", then " Herbert H. Rolfes, ME-3 USS Ashland-LSD1", and to the far right it says " St. Thomas Newfoundland Cuba Vieagas Panama". There are five campaign ribbons under the second note. One ribbon is dark red, the second is striped with blue, white, and red, the third ribbon is striped with orange, white, red, and blue with stars decorating it, the fourth ribbon is striped with blue, green, yellow, white, and orange, and the last ribbon is striped iwth white, pink, and blue. The places named are probably related to the ribbons displayed. The picture itself is colored, but seems faded with age. It is a docked ship on the water.
