The engraving is a portrait of Zachary Taylor. It features Taylor standing in a battlefield setting in uniform. There is one soldier behind him, facing away from the portrait. There are three soldiers nott in color to the right of the background soldier. Taylor is standing against a rock with a map strewn over it. He is in a blue jacket, white pants, black knee-high boots and a black hat. Directly under the picture is the credit: "Lith. & Pub. By N. Currier," a space, "Entered acording to Act of Congress A.D. 1846, by Sarony & Major, in the Clerk's Office of the Dist. Court of the Southn. Dist. of N. York," space, "152 Nassau St. Cor. of Spruce NY." Below that is the title: "Gen. Z. Taylor,/ ("Rough and Ready")" and the number: "541."
