Description

Gold ladies pocket watch. Has front and back case covers with worn circular engine turned designs overall. The stem has a gold ring and latch release to open the covers at the end. The edge of the watch and the stem are covered with floral designs. The face is gold with Roman numerals. it has a small seconds dial set into the main dial. There is a floral design around the outside that appears to be done with multicolored gold flowers and leaves. The inside of the face is done in a scale pattern. On the inside of the case lids are maker's marks and assay marks. They are a shield with three sheaves of wheat surrounding a sword, a crown over the number 18, a lion rampant, and a leopard with crown and the number 10171. The back of the watch contains two holes for key winding and is engraved, "Worn for 40 years by Lucretia Hart, wife of Henry Clay". The works are engraved "Improved deatched patenet lever by Davis & Brothers Liverpool 10171 Warrented".
