Description

Silver urn with removable lid with an eagle on top. The urn is on a square base, footed at each corner. Two scrolled handles on sides. The urn is higly decorated with intricate metal work and detail. Inscribed: "Presented to Henry Clay by the Gold and Silver Artisans of the City of New York, as a tribute of their respect for the faithful and patriotic manner in which he has discharged his high public trusts and especially for his early and untiring advocacy of Protection to American Industry. 1845. Committee: William Adams, Moses G. Baldwin, Alfred G. Pickham, Edward Y. Prime, Daniel Carpenter, David Dunn." Made by William Adams, Manufacturer of Silver Ware, New York, 1845.
