In 1776, just prior to the battle of Germantown, PA, Christoph Saur printed 3000 copies of the 3rd edition of a German-language Bible. Most were detroyed by British soldiers who used the pages as gun wad for their rifles, giving this edition the nickname of the "Gun Wad Bible." German language Bible
