Context

Defense Postal Savings Stamps were a type of savings stamp issued by the U.S. Treasury Department during World War II to help finance the war effort. They were sold through post offices and other outlets, and could be accumulated to purchase Defense Bonds. These stamps were part of a broader effort to encourage citizen participation in the war economy.
