PROPOSED
PLAN
CURRENT STATE
Dear Chester School District Residents,
There are many reasons to vote "YES" on the proposed multi-purpose field referendum on Tuesday. Voters are encouraged to educate themselves before casting their ballot by going to the Chester School website where accurate information can be found. There is a vigorous and coordinated disinformation campaign being conducted at this time.
The following items are beyond dispute:
1. The tax levy increase is an average of $189 based on the assessed home value of $350,000. Some will pay more, some less. For instance, a 3 - bedroom unit in Whispering Hills will pay $89 per year. A 2 - bedroom unit $69.
2. Despite the extensive media coverage surrounding the referendum, a prospective buyer has yet to emerge. How long it takes to sell the building is anybody's guess. In the meantime, the taxpayer will continue to carry the responsibility of maintaining an empty building.
3. While everyone agrees that the Maple Avenue School is an important historical building in the village, the reality of the situation is that the building is unusable in its current state. What better way to honor Chester's rich past by blending the old with the new. The facade of the bleachers will feature an exact replica of the front of the Maple Avenue School along with a display case filled with relics from the school's storied past.
4. The notion that "We are finding it increasingly difficult to field a full football team," is simply not true. The football program continues to maintain two levels, JV and Varsity, while soccer has as many as three levels. This is not even including the various community programs that will benefit as well.
PLEASE CONSIDER ALL OF THIS INFORMATION WHEN CASTING YOUR VOTE ON TUESDAY. THANK YOU!Dimensions
