Middletown, N. Y., Monday, August 7, 1933 Ancient Cars Carry Six Boys To Fair CHESTER–Six members of Boy Scout Troop One have just returned from a 2,200 mile trip to the Chicago exposition which began July twenty-fourth and ended Saturday afternoon. The thirteen days, according to the boys, were packed with thrills and excitement, but no disaster. It is their contention that their trip sets a new low record of expenses to the fair. Each boy took $25 with him and this covered transporta- tion, food, lodging and repairs. Lodging was mostly under the stars wrapped in blankets and it must be admitted that the expenses were lightened a bit by an uncle of two of the boys, Frank and Emmett Green, who supplied shelter at his home in Chicago. The boys spent a day at the exposition, and another day on Lake Michigan aboard their host's yacht. They also visited the Chicago stock yards, inspected Swift & Company's plant, and toured the Loop. Their route to Chicago was via Port Jervis Elmira and Cleveland. The return trip was by way of Detroit, Windsor, Canada, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany. Although one of the cars was a model of 1913 only 144 gallons of gasoline was used on the entire trip by the two cars. The boys shown in the picture above are: Emmett Green, Wendy Conklin, James Demerest, George Mapes, Seeley Hunter and Frank Green. ********* WORLD EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITION TOUR 00000 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Traveling Motion Picture Studio Public Exhibition Sound Motion Picture Projection Daily Demontrations Featured by World dignitaries & Celebrate Screen Artists Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Travelling Talking Picture Studio [reverse] Mammoth Boxing Show Benefit Veterans of Foreign Wars Hospital Fund Half Mile Track - Goshen, N.
