This lithograph was created by the lithograph company Sarony, Major & Knapp and published J.C. Fuller & Co. At the time of the Civil War, the lithograph was the most common method used for the mass production of images. Lithographs were cheaper and more accessible to the general public, and lithographs like this one were a common decoration in middle class homes. The same image was reproduced in color and in black and white, with different companies and regiments of the Union Army memorialized. An impression of the same chromolithograph memorializing the 2nd Regiment of New Hampshire Volunteers, Company C is part of the collection of the New Hampshire Historical Society.
