Elmer Courser Rev. Elmer Courser, 73, of 151 Oak St., Elsie, died Thursday, June 3, 1:30 a.m., at Clinton Memorial Hospital, St. Johns, of heart failure. Born in Missaukee County April 16, 1909, the son of Olen and Margaret Courser, Mr. Courser resided in Ovid and Elsie for the past 30 years. He married Celia Clemens in Ionia June 17, 1933. Mr. Courser was an elder in the East Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church and pastored at Beaverton, Linwood, Caro, Standish, Bad Axe, Elsie and St. Johns. He was employed by Midland Ross Corp. of St. Johns for 17 years. Surviving are his wife, Celia; a daughter, Vicki Pruett of Georgia; two sons, Roger of Bath and Vance of Charlotte; a sister, Mrs. Esther Kenny of Ionia; three brothers, Arnold of Vero Beach, Fla., Rev. Edwin of Mt. Rose and Charles of Sebastian, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death. Services were led by Rev. Elmer Boileau at Carter Funeral Home in Elsie at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5. Burial was in Saranac Cemetery, Saranac. Memorial contributions can be made to the Racy Free Methodist Church building fund.
