Death of F. C. Smith
The people of Ovid were sorry to learn of the death of F. C. Smith, a former superintendent of the Ovid schools, which occurred at Tustin on Saturday, Nov. 15. The end came as a relief after many weeks of suffering, during which Mr. Smith became an invalid.
Three years ago Mr. Smith was taken ill following a breakdown which was the result of overwork. His condition became so bad that he was obliged to resign his position in 1918 here and he and his family moved to Tustin to reside near relatives.
Mr. Smith was one of the most popular superintendents that Ovid ever had. He was held in the highest respect by the students and parents. Everyone is saddened to learn of his death. Besides his widow and two sons, Keith and Harold, there survive his aged parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services, were held from the home Tuesday afternoon.
