Samuel O. Cross FORMER OVID MAN ________________________ Samuel O. Cross Passed Away at Jackson __________________________________ The death of Samuel O. Cross occurred at the Odd Fellows' home at Jackson, Friday, March 30, after quite a period of ill health. The remains were brought to Ovid Saturday to the house of his brother, R. M. Cross, where funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Pickard officiating. Interment was made in Maple Grove cemetery. The Odd Fellows attended the funeral in a body. The deceased was born at Pultney, Steuben county, N. Y., April 24, 1821. He came to Michigan with his parents in September, 1837 and settled on the old homestead. His father, John L. Cross was the third settler in Ovid township. Mr. Cross remained at the family home until he was married when he came to Ovid village where he practiced the carpenter's trade. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. of Ovid. The deceased had eight brothers and one sister, three brothers surviving. They are James P. and R. M. Cross of Ovid and Louis Cross of Detroit.
