October 4, 1974. Standing in front of one of the new city limits welcome signs is Leon "Jake" Smeltzer and Eleanor (Moon) McKinney. Jake crafted the signs from redwood. This sign was located at the new West Side Park, later renamed McGuire Park at 911 W. Main Street.
