"The purpose of this book is to acquaint the reader with the various aspects of graveyard preservation. It is, in a sense, a how-to manual, although I make no pretense of giving complete and definitive coverage of any of the subjects explored. It is intended specifically for nonprofessionals involved in small to mid-sized projects who are having difficulty in getting started because of the lack of staff or resources that are readily available to those in larger cities or those who are managing larger projects. Still, preservation of early graveyards is largely an unexplored field, and it is believed and hoped that much of the information contained within these pages will be useful to anyone, professional and nonprofessional alike, interested in the preservation of an early graveyard"
