Description

17th-c. German alms box with a slotted lid made of carved and polychrome wood. The Raising of Lazarus with the 12 apostles appears on the front of the box. The Resurrection with two angels at the empty tomb with Mary Magdalene and Christ appears on the back. The face of Christ is carved into the sides of the box and the front and back of the lid. Decorative punching is used throughout.
