A view of the Great Captain Island's lighthouse front face, facing north-east. The Great Captain Island's current lighthouse was built in 1868, replacing an earlier 1829 structure, and was in use until 1970 when it was replaced by a skeletal tower lighthouse built next to it. The structure is made from granite with a cast iron lantern tower; the structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 and was majorly refurbished in the early 2000's.Collection
