Description

262 Main Street West - Nixon Hall "Gothic Revival" Farmerettes were stationed at Nixon Hall during WWII in quonset huts in the back yard. During 1948, Mr. James G. and Mrs. Pearl Walker owners of the house, although they didn't live there at the time, made it available to be used as a temporary hospital after the fire at the hospital at Deer Park. It was used for 14 months, 288 babies were delivered upstairs at obstetrics and with over 1,000 patients treated, many underwent surgery in the living room operating room.
