Dr Morris arrived in Grimsby in 1897 and set up his office and surgery in the east end of the Dolmage building at Main and Mountain St., opposite the Mansion House Hotel.
He move office to 11 Mountain St. where he enlarged a cottage for a home and office. He built up a large, successful practise in Grimsby over 17 years, becoming one of the more popular physicians in the area. He died unexpectedly in May of 1914 at age 41, leaving his widow, Katherine, 2 sons John and David and daughter Mary.
Kartherine remained in Grimsby at their Mountain St. residence and raised her family here. During WW1 she was the Treasurer of the local Tea Room which raised funds for the Canadian Overseas Hospital #4. In the 1920's she moved to 25 Mountain street and during WW2, with the children gone, she resided in Toronto
John & David attended Lake Lodge School and took the entrance exams for the Royal Military College in 1920. David is known to have passed as was sent to Esquimalt BC for training. David subsequently became the plant manager of Wire Rope Industries in Smith's Falls and in the early 1970s the Smith's Falls Industrial Chairman.
John joined the Bank of Commerce at Grimsby.
Mary was born July 28, 1911. She became a teacher and taught in the 1940's in Quebec. She returned to Grimsby to retire, becoming an active member of the community. She wrote "Grimsby and Its Doctors, 1876-1976" in GHS Once upon a Little Town. She passed Dec 17, 1996 at age 86.
