The Park House was originally a restaurant but was converted into one of Grimsby’s larger hotels some time before 1876. It stood close to the current Grimsby Beach Archway. Both the Park House and the Lake View House were managed by Mr. J.D Strawn of Buffalo. A stay at the Park House was $1 to $1.50 per day, which was slightly less than a stay at the Lake View House. Both houses had stable accommodation for those who arrived by horse-drawn vehicle. It has been said that there was a "little jail under the Park House Hotel", and that a boy "...was once locked up there for playing a mouth organ on a Sunday" (Greetings From Grimsby Park pg.32-33). The hotel burnt down in the 1920s.Collection
