Myrtle Anna Bevhtel Bean, wife of Clive Bean, Owner and Editor of Grimsby Independent.
She was the women's editor of the Independent during her husbands ownership from 1928 to 1937 and was the first woman member of the Grimsby Library Board.
Myrtle became interested in local history, researched and wrote stories of Grimsby Beach & Grimsby Village and conserved many pictures of the area.
Myrtle was also a contralto soloist, performing with church choirs, weddings and in other venues. The Beans subsequently lived in Toronto and Regina. After her husbands death in 1955 she moved back to Kitchener/ Waterloo. She died there in October 1975 at age 89.
