P-2012-01-13-104Description
Peaches ready to be shipped at the Grimsby Depot.
Summer 1922 produced a huge peach crop. September broke a monthly shipping record with 486 carloads of fruit shipped from the two Grimsby stations. Three packing houses tried to keep up with loads of peaches, while long lines of trucks and drays waited for hours to be unloaded at the Growers’ Cold Storage on Livingston Avenue.
The Ontario government helped handle the surplus of peaches and pears by arranging their export to England.Collection
