Grimsby Beach also had a club with greens on the former site of the Lake Side hotel. Besides the greens on his own porperty, AG Pettit was an active member of the Grimsby Lawn Bowling Club and was Honorary President in 1915.
Nixon Hall "a large, sweeping home with luxurious grounds" was built by Julia's father, Dennis Nixon in the summer of 1854 on land that came down to him through his father Robert Nixon and grandfather, Loyalist Allen Nixon. Alan Nixon received a 400 acre Crown Grant that extended from Lake Ontario to Mud Road on the escarpment.
