David Fisher, seated, William Schwab, in the mid 1890's, "just about" Ontario's best pair of sprinters in the 100 and 220 yard dashes. Both participated in various other track & field events at local and area meets.
Both men became carpenters; Schwab, the son of Frederick & Martha Schwab of 245 Main Street West, Aka "Schwab's Corner" built a number of homes in west end Grimsby, including homes in the Kidd Survey in the 1910's to 1930's. He passed in 1958.
Fisher also lived adjacent to the Schwabs on Main St West but by the 1920s he lived at 17 Robinson North while working as an expert fruit tree trimmer in season and did carpentry of all kinds. The Fishers later lived at 19 Adelaide Street where he remained into retirement and his passing in 1951.
Fisher and Schwab were also members of the local fire department; the Grimsby Hook and Ladder Club.
