Description

"Millionaire's Row" - Victoria Terrace, Grimsby Beach - the views were worth millions. This area of Victoria Terrace, where the path came up from the steamer dock, was a central focal point of the park. It was the popular waiting and meeting area for passengers and large groups. The large stands of origional growth trees provided viatas over the lake, shelter from sun and weather, places to sit for group photos or await the steamers arrivals. Constant crowds here were not unusual in the heydays of the Methodist camp ground or subsequent Grimsby Park. Victoria Terrace runs parallel to the lake in front of the cottages. The terrace winds its way through the tree stands off to the right in front of the cottages. #33 Victoria Terrace is behind the green tree to the left. #34 Victoria Terrace is not missing, the lot was never built on as it served as the pathway from the pier to Bell Park, Auditorium Circle and to cottages beyond. To the right much of #35 Victoria Terrace is seen with its large upper and lower decks visible behind the red umbrella. #36 Victoria Terrace's deck protrudes beyond the large tree in front of #35. # 37 is obscured just beyond. Patriotic Postcard with the Crest of the British Empire; "On Whose Dominion The Sun Never Sets" top right.
