Grimsby Beach regattaDescription
A common sport at Grimsby Beach - Circa early 1900's, a rowing regatta about to take place at Grimsby Beach with observers on the pier, the beach, and lining the length of the top of the hill along Victoria Terrace.
More than a dozen rowing skiffs are in the photo, manned by both men and women. The Beach Owners Association skiffs were stored in the large boat house seen alongside the wharf with the sliding doors and launching ramps. When not used in events such as this, they could be rented by cottage owners and visitors for more lesiurely boating.
A number of Victoria Terrace cottages are visible in the background, thought to be #'s 33, 35, 37, 39 and possibly #43 or 45.Collection
