Name/Title

Village Inn

Description

The Dolmage property was purchased by John Hewitt in 1906. John and his brother Simeon added a large extension along Mountain Street, building it out of the same local stone used to construct the original part of the building. The addition contained kitchens and the Oak Room, a finely appointed dining room. The store in the middle became the lobby and the upstairs was converted into guest rooms. The Village Inn was a popular place for dining and dancing for locals and travellers. The Village Inn was demolished in 1973.
