St Mary's Ukranian ChurchDescription
Ukrainian families began immigrating to Grimsby in 1929. The Catholic Ukrainians would attend St. Joseph’s Church, but many of them did not understand English or Latin. With the generous land donation from Mr. Fred and John Wisnoski in 1930, a new Ukrainian Catholic Church was in it planning stages. This new church would allow many of the Ukrainian speaking residents of Grimsby the ability to fully understand church services. Construction began in 1935 and finished six years later in 1941. Later on, a parish hall was added.Collection
