Metcalfe Tea RoomDescription
The Metcalfe Tea room operated in a log cabin venue on the west side of Forty Mile Creek north of Ridge Road West, towards The Point Park.
Excerpt from a 1931 tourist brochure - " Turn off the busy highway to the restfulness of the woods and enjoy delicious home cooked meals at the Log Cabin Tea Room, Grimsby Point Park - Beautiful panoramic view of the valley. "
The tearoom was operated by Gertrude Beamer Metcalfe and her twin daughters, Bertha and Blanche. Light lunches were served; the Log Cabin Tea Room was particularly famous for its chicken dinners. It was nestled among the hemlock trees near the edge of the escarpment in what is now Beamer Conservation Area.
