Two postcards of the 1889 St. John's Presbyterian Church. This was the 2nd church built on this site. The congregation was organized in 1831 and they built their first church, a brick church which came to be known as "The Brick Church". Construction began in 1833 and took four years to complete. Dedication was 18 June 1837. The second church ( this photo) was built when a larger church was needed. The "Brick Church" was demolished and some of the brick was used in the new church pictured in this postcard.Category
