The Viking Restaurant was built by John Frostad. Frostad was a Norwegian immigrant who settled in Grimsby in the early 1950s, after his son purchased a farm on the north side of the QEW. The Restaurant was located on the QEW where the current (as of 2023) Lakemount Worship Centre at 59 North Service Road is today. The Viking Restaurant was cut off from traffic when a north service road was added to the QEW. It soon struggled to operate and eventually closed.
