Description

Silver handled bowie knife - capture piece belonging to Jesse W. Fox - blade has writing "JW Fox". Jesse W. Fox enlisted at the age of 18 on May 2, 1864 and mustered out with the company on September 4, 1864, after serving 100 days in the 162nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry (OVI) also known as the 162 Ohio National Guard. They were ordered into Kentucky to assist in repelling John Morgan. The regiment arrived in Covington the day after Morgan's defeat at Cynthiana.
