Note
About 30” in diameter & about 6” tall. It is rather fragile & is mounted to a table, secured with a ratchet strap. Possibly carved out long leaf heart pine, but the wood is so old it’s hard it’s hard to identify. Not sure of the age, but there was a mill on the property as early as the 1750's. Tub wheels were used to power the mill. The mill this piece came from was located on Drowning Creek which forms the boundaries between Moore, Montgomery & Richmond Counties. The property is part of a 1752 land grant to Malcolm Munro, Rick Monroe's 5th-great grandfather. Malcolm & at least four generations of the Monroe family were millers at that location or nearby. This piece is currently on display at Hart Square Village in Vale.
