THOMAS.013.1Scope and Content
Constructed 1823-28. The New England-born chancellor of the Equity Court of Appeals, Justice Benjamin Faneuil Dunkin, built this 2½ story Charleston single house on a raised foundation a few years after building his own residence on the lot immediately to the west. A late Neoclassical pedimented architrave with semicircular transom and engaged Tuscan columns provides entry to a piazza with similar columns supporting a wooden arcade. The surviving kitchen building, modified in the late 19th century, remains on the Warren Street elevation.
