Scope and Content

This two-story masonry dwelling was likely built soon after the Civil War (1867-68) by Tobias Scott, a "free person of color." (HCF research notes, 2018.) File contains historical research report (Lavelle, April 2018); research notes for the 2018 Festival of Houses and Gardens (HCF staff) including Charleston County property record documentation and various maps; Rosen and Associates (engineers) Hurricane Hugo damage report for 17 Water Street (1990).
