Description

Cast iron cauldron or cooking pot. It rests on three pointed feet and features a deep bowl with two ring handles on either side of the bowl.

Use

A cauldron is a large pot used for cooking or boiling large quantities of food or water over an open fire. Typically made from a heavy-duty material such as cast iron, cauldrons are built to withstand high temperatures achieved through open-fire cooking. Used for washing laundry and cooking soups and meat for centuries, cauldrons often feature an arc-shaped hanger to suspend the cauldron over a fire and handles to aid in transportation. When situated on the hearth, the feet at the base allow the pot to balance on coals and retain heat.
