Name/Title

Victorian Stle Ink Well

Entry/Object ID

Description

Victorian Style Ink Well The object is an antique Victorian style double ink well. Two different color inks were placed in the inkwell bottles which pivoted down to dip the writer’s pen, then back up to seal against the metal discs for storage until the next writing session! Pens were then placed across delicate metal extensions seen on the inkwell set. Although not marked, the bottles may have been manufactured by one of the several glass producing factories in Hammonton. Most notable was the Skinner Glass Factory of Hammonton.
