Description

Hammontonopoly Games 2025.18.10.1- 1980 Version, “WHEELER- DEALER- The Game of Hammonton- The Hub of South Jersey.” The first Monopoly-like board game for Hammonton was commissioned by the Soroptimist International of Hammonton. The game was made by Michael Glenn Productions using their Wheeler-Dealer game format. Towns raised money by approaching local businesses and selling placements on the board to advertise their goods and services, no doubt at different levels corresponding to more desirable positions on the board. Most of the leading businesses of Hammonton were represented. Player tokens were not individualized for that town, and all game cards and cash carried Wheeler-Dealer and Glenn credits. 2025.18.10.2- 1987 Version, Hammonton-opoly, The first-ever HAMMONTONOPOLY game is released. Much like the earlier 1980 Michael Glenn Wheeler-Dealer-based project Hammonton businesses were approached, contributing monies toward board placement. Once again, the new game highlighted many of the most prominent and identifiable town businesses. This new game featured player game pieces “unique” to Hammonton; a Tractor, Shopping Bag, Pizza Slice, Football, Bicycle, and our Town Clock! Instead of houses and hotels, it incorporated green and red plastic discs. 2025.18.10.3- 2013 Version, Hammontonopoly A new, revised HAMMONTONOPOLY game is launched, this one is released by MainStreet Hammonton with additional backing from “community partners” NJM Insurance and NJM Bank, both companies celebrating their 100th anniversary. In fact, it marked MainStreet’s 20th year of revitalization of our town. NJM was featured prominently on the game board center, game cards, and the stacks of money. AtlantiCare was another contributor to the project. Once again, the game board spaces were a call-out to familiar businesses in Hammonton who contributed to the project, albeit now with a whole lot more “artistic flair” in the game spaces than the initial edition. The iconic game pieces returned; the Tractor, Shopping Bag, Pizza Slice, Football, Bicycle, and our Town Clock! Proper houses and hotels this time around, in purple and red respectively. 2025.18.10.4- 2023 Version, Hammonotonopoly
