Five (5) different wooden nickels issued by the Hammonton Centennial Headquarters in
1966. Each circular wooden nickel is composed of natural wood 1/8" thick and 1-1/2" in diameter. Each wooden nickel bears printing in a single color. The ink color differs on each nickel: red; blue; green, purple, black.
OBVERSE (heads side):
2023.24.5.1- Red-ink Wooden Nickel - Center motif is a left-facing male native American head wearing a war bonnet. Around the circumference is stated "WOODEN NICKEL" at the top and "FACE 5¢ VALUE" at the bottom.
2023.24.5.2- Blue-ink Wooden Nickel - Center motif inside a circle is a bust of a front-facing bearded man wearing a derby head, with the phrase "FUN FOR ALL above the head inside the circle and the phrase "ALL FOR FUN" above the bust's right shoulder. Around the circumference but outside the center motif's circle is stated "WOODEN NICKEL" at the top and "FACE 5¢ VALUE" at the bottom.
2023.24.5.3- Green-ink Wooden Nickel - Top-half motif is a left-facing male native American head wearing two feathers in his hair, with the word "GENUINE" following an arc along the wooden nickel's circumference in front of the native American's face. Completing the top half motif, across the middle of the wooden nickel are the words "WOODEN NICKEL", with those words below the native American head. At the bottom half are the words
"FACE VALUE" above the words "FIVE CENTS", and a conspicuous dot centered near the bottom edge.
2023.24.5.4 - Purple-ink Wooden Nickel - Top-half motif is a right-facing, charging buffalo (American bison), with the words" WOODEN NICKEL" following the top half of the wooden nickel's circumference above the motif. At the bottom half are the words "FACE VALUE" above the words "FIVE CENTS", and a conspicuous dot centered near the bottom edge.
2023.24.5.5- Black-ink Wooden Nickel - Center motif is a right-facing, standing buffalo (American bison). Around the circumference is stated "WOODEN NICKEL" at the top and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" at the bottom.

Each wooden nickel bears the same information printed on their reverse (tails) side:
Around the circumference is stated "Hammonton Centennial" at the top and "1866 May
21-28 1966" at the bottom. The reverse color on each wooden nickel is the same as the wooden nickel's obverse color.Acquisition
