"Overland Monthly and Out West Magazine," Volume 86, Number 8, August 1928 issue. The front cover has an Art Deco-like border with a white field within. On this field is the "Overland Monthly" name at the top, a note that it was founded by poet Bret Harte in 1868 and a logo of a black bear, within a diamond shaped field. Toward the bottom is the date, volume, and number, the price and the words "AND OUT WEST MAGAZINE." Contents include poetry, fictional stories, a short essay by William Saroyan, an article about Indian yogis, historical items, book reviews, an article on tourism, and a tribute to Los Angeles County school superintendent Mark Keppel. There are some photograph and other illustrations and advertisements in the magazine, which is in good condition with some small cover creases, slightly dented corners, light soiling on the cover, page yellowing, and staple tarnish.Lexicon
