"A MAP OF THE BUSINESS SECTION OF LOS ANGELES"
Color: Black; White
A map titled "A Map of the Business Section of Los Angeles," made by Clason Map Co. and issued by Mullen and Bluett, 1927. The item, which was originally folded has the map of one side, when the document is unfolded. The area shown is from Figueroa Street on the west to Wall Street on the east and from First Street on the north to Twelfth Street on the south. Near the center, with a red border, is the location of Mullen and Bluett, a clothier. Many businesses are identified, with a key provided on the reverse. Of note are the Great Republic Life Building (noted as "Repub. Life" and which housed many of Walter P. Temple's companies, and the National City Bank Building (shown as "N. C. Bank") in which he was an investor. At the upper right is a compass and at the lower right is the copyright date of 1927 and the name of the mapmaker, Clason Map Co. In addition to the key of business buildings, the reverse has the location of the three Mullen and Bluett stores, and three panels with more information about the clothier. A stamp for a former owner is on one of these panels. With brittleness; cover creases; light soiling; browning, heavier on one panel than the rest; many original folds; edge tears; and overall wear, the general condition is fair.Lexicon
