REPORT, "FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE STATE MINERALOGIST," (Sacramento: James J. Ayers, Supt. State Printing,) 1885. The report covers the year ending 15 May 1885 and is missing the first several pages, with page 9 being the first in this copy. Up to page 50 is material on expositions featuring mineral exhibits, including the focus of the report: the 1884-85 exhibition at New Orleans. Following is a statement on California and its exhibit with much material on various minerals, including a substantial section on gold, and lists of exhibited material. The remainder of the report concerns exhibits from other states and territories and an index. An appendix includes fold-out floor plans of exhibit areas. With scratches, scuffing, dogeared corners, a crushed spine top and soiling to the cover, the title page and surrounding pages loose, and page creasing, but most pages clean and tight, the overall condition is fair.Lexicon
