Description

"Contraband Christmas," by Nathaniel W. T. Root (Boston: E. P. Dutton and Company,) 1869. The novel deals with a contraband slave named "Chrismus" and has much religious content and abolition sentiments, as well as text in so-called black dialect. There are references to the Christmas season as the work was intended as a holiday work. With sunned, stained and heavily worn boards, a loose binding and some pages with small stains, minor soiling and occasional creases, the overall condition is fair.
