Description

"Los Angelos [sic], California," a pirated image from the American Series, original image from ca. 1872. Taken from the Temple Block at the junction of Temple, Spring, and Main streets, the view takes in a crowd of horse-drawn vehicles and persons gathered in front of the Downey Block. At the right, in the distance, is Main Street looking north and portions of buildings on its east side, including the Pico Building, St. Charles Hotel, and Abel Stearns' "El Palacio" adobe. With soiling, edge abrasions and wear, and very slight curvature of the mount, the condition is fair.
