"Roof Instruments, United States Weather Bureau Station, Los Angeles, Cal." 1918. The image shows a commercial building roof on which is a rain gauge in the center and a red ink mark showing the previous gauge. The photo is mounted onto a paper backing, on which is text about the instruments and how the earlier gauge was in a bad location near stacks, skylights, and a penthouse, whereas the new gauge was in an open area and, therefore, more effective. With some soiling and fading to the paper, the condition is good.
