Description

"Main St, Los Angeles, Cal From the Temple Block north," by F. H. Rogers, & Co. ca. 1885. The image is taken from an upper story of the Temple Block looking towards the Plaza area. At the lower left is the Downey Block, while across Main Street, at the right are such structures as the Arcadia Block, Pico Building, and several hotels. On the dirt street is the Spring and Sixth Street Railway and many horse-drawn wagons and carts. The photographer's stamp is at the the left and right margins, while the title is inscribed in ink on the back, which also contains a stamp for a masonic home library. With soiling, stains, edge rubbing and browning, the overall condition is good.
