Description

Color: Brown; Green; Orange; Purple "The Construction of Weatherbest Thatch Roofs," a catalog issued by the Weatherbest Stained Shingle Co., Inc, 1928. The 24-page catalog has a brown paper cover with the front containing a color image at the top of a home with a thatch roof. Toward the bottom is the title of the publication in orange letters with a landscape scene underneath. At the upper right and lower right are printed inscriptions reading "A. I. A. File No. 19d1." On the center of the back cover is the product name on a green banner or shield. The printer's name, Russell Printing Co., Inc of Buffalo, New York, is at the lower right. After the copyright and title pages is a description of English thatched straw roofs, which the company emulated with its product, which is described on pages seven and nine. Other elements of the text are specifications; construction of the roofs with architectural drawings accompanying the descriptions; and the laying of the shingles with drawings of the process. There are black and white photographs of houses that have Weatherbest roofs on them, while the drawing from the front cover is repeated throughout. While there are some acid stains and creases on pagesand a few small stains, a tear at the left front, creases and dented corners on the covers, the artifact is in good condition.
