"Hutchings' Illustrated California Magazine," Volume I, July 1856 to June 1857. Published by Hutchings and Rosenfield in San Francisco, 1857. A pamphlet magazine that starts with an extensive table of contents and list of illustrations in the first volume. The purpose of the magazine was to introduce California's scenery, agriculture, resources, commerce and social life to its readers. This first part of the volume includes an article and illustrations about the Yosemite Valley, the California silk worm, as well as fiction adventure stories. This section ends at page 48.
