The excerpt from a 1931 letter describing a sailing trip up through Puget Sound to Coupeville for the Water Festival Races. The letter discusses the Indigenous Canoe Races at Coupeville in 1931. It states, "Finally arrived at Coupeville, we went ashore and bought some provisions and looked the place over. Squalid little fishing village, it was all dressed up for the carnival, and the usual barkers, side shows, shows, tug-o-war, etc." The letter goes on to describe the canoes. It is four pages long.
