Description

Photograph of Peter Miller standing in front of Coupeville's "Big Rock", c. 08 May 1954. A short newspaper clipping pasted on the reverse of the photo reads, "Prairie 'Pebble': Peter Miller, 98, stood before a mammoth rock deposited on a prairie near Coupeville, Whidby Island, eons ago, by glacial recession. Miller set foot on Whidby in 1882 and has no desire to leave -- a reaction common to Whidby residents and visitors."
