From the old entry:
House - Captain Thomas Coupe. 1854 504 Northwest 9th Street, Coupeville
Captain Coupe settled on Whidbey Islan in 1853. purchasing a Donation Claim on Penn Cove. He contracted with the Hill brothers to build a house. The building materials came from San Francisco and the house was constructed of redwood. The structure has been moved back on the property twice due to erosion of the bluff . With the growth of Coupeville, the road which ran to the north (or in front) of the house was moved farther south (now to the back) of the house.
1995: PNRO inventory. One contributing building; one contributing structure. Winter 2007 the barn blew down.
